- How camellia plants first arrived in the U.S.
- How the Birmingham Camellia Society was formed and its contribution to popularizing camellias in the Birmingham area and across the southern states.
- How the camellia became the state flower
- New camellia varieties that were created and registered by Birmingham area and other Alabama residents.
- Q and A about camellia care and identification. Photos of unidentified blooms welcome.
This program is presented by Cindy Warriner. Cindy and her husband started competing in Camellia shows in 1994. They went on to became American Camellia Society certified judges and have traveled to several southern states to judge at Camellia shows and have also taught judge recertification classes. After moving to Birmingham, Cindy immediately joined the Birmingham Camellia Society. Since joining the Birmingham club, she has served as Secretary and President, worked on several projects, and now serve as Historian.
